I'll bet shaving and toiletry bags have never excited you. They never excited us either, that is until we started to build and sell them at Drop Zone. The PPCLI (Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry) asked us to build one for them to offer to the troops. Designed with huge input, from the soldiers of the PPCLI, for rugged and extended field use, they sell like hot cakes!
As the military asked us to build it, we fondly call it the TTP (Tactical Toiletry Pouch).
The TTP is of a "tool roll" style with a large 3" x 3" x 8" YKK® zipper closed, box at the base for storage of larger toiletry items such as shampoo bottles toothpaste and hair brushes. (It is on extended trips that one begins to appreciate a toiletry bag that is capable of carrying something larger than "travel sized" bottles of toiletries.) Above the "box" are elastic bandoleers for the placement of toothbrushes and razors. The "exposed" nature of these elastic bandoleers promotes air circulation for speedy drying. Hidden behind the bandoleers is a discreetly placed "envelope" pocket that is secured with Velcro® hook and pile. Perfect for those more personel items. On the roll, above the bandoleers, is a hook and pile closed mesh pocket for addtional storage for perhaps a lexan shaving mirror. Leaving no detail to chance the TTP has a hanging loop for handy storage in camp. For compact, stealthy, travel the TTP rolls up and secures closed with more hook and pile.
Interestingly not all of the TTP's are used for toiletries. We have had many a medic purchase them for intubation kits. We have also sold them for use as cleaning kit tool rolls for armorers!
In every toiletry bags life comes a time when it must be cleaned and the TTP is no exception, which is why we built it out of 1000 d urethane coated mil-spec nylon. Just hand wash briefly, using a stiff brush to remove stubborn stains, and hang dry.
