The Recon Smock is a derivative of our now world famous Recce Smock (at this point we recommend that those who are not familiar with the British smock concept visit our Recce Smock section for more detailed and essential information). American soldiers inundated us for requests to do an “Americanized” version of the Drop Zone Recce Smock in the ACU Universal Camouflage Pattern. We were flattered with this demand and when appropriate fabric of high quality was made available to us we jumped at the opportunity.

As our classic Recce Smock is now highly refined, the differences between the two smocks are mostly cosmetic. The Recon Smock is fitted with two Velcro® name tabs instead of one . The Canadian style rank tab was removed in favor of a 2”x 2” Velcro® square. The shoulder pocket Velcro® has been in creased 2”x 4” to 6”x 4” to better accommodate U.S. military badges.

The only structural feature we changed was to eliminate the hem “Krott cord” and replace it with a law enforcement style “holster slot” zipper on both sides. This change has been so well received that it will be a running production change on our Recce Smocks as well.

Other than the above small details, all the features that made our original Recce Smock a classic can be found on the Recon Smock:

• Two, zipper closed, interior chest pockets.
• Three, rear, interior, Velcro® closed “E&E” pockets
• Two, exterior shoulder pockets closed with YKK® zippers
• Two, exterior, lower “hand warmer” with YKK® zippers.
• Two, exterior, lower cargo pockets with lanyard D-ring and secured with button closed flaps “piggy backed” on to the “hand warmer” pockets
• Two, exterior, chest mounted, YKK® zip closed, “admin” pockets with two pen pockets each!
• Two, exterior, chest mounted, cargo pockets with lanyard D-ring, and button flap closures “piggy backed” on to the “admin” pockets.
• Two-way #10 YKK® main zip with reach through zip.
• Roll-away hood that is fully adjustable to accommodate use with or without ballistic helmets.
• Cord locked waist drawstring made from shock cord for maximum movement.
• Double layered yoke to increase water resistance.
• Velcro® closed forearm/elbow pockets for foam padding placement.
• Velcro® adjusted sleeve cuffs.
• YKK® zipper underarm vents.
